    McDonnell Douglas MD-11 cutaway

The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is a three-engine medium- to long-range widebody jet airliner, manufactured by McDonnell Douglas and, later, by Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Based on the DC-10, it features a stretched fuselage, increased wingspan with winglets, refined airfoils on the wing and smaller tailplane, new engines and increased use of composite materials. Two of its engines are mounted on underwing pylons and a third engine at the base of the vertical stabilizer. It also features an all-digital glass cockpit that decreases the flight deck crew from the three required on the DC-10 to two by eliminating the necessity for a flight engineer

    The Airline: Air Italy

Air Italy S.p.A. is an airline based in GallarateItaly, operating scheduled services for tour operators within Europe, to Brazil and Kenya, as well as independent short-haul flights. Most flights leave from either Naples AirportTurin AirportVerona Airport or Milan Malpensa Airport.

The airline was set up in 2005 (owned by BV Asset Management (40%), Giuseppe Gentile (40%) and Pathfinder (20%)) and started operations on 29 May of the same year with a flight from Turin to Budapest. In late 2006, an independent investment company acquired a 40% share in Air Italy. The funding of 280 million Euros was used to order three second-hand Boeing 767 aircraft in 2007 and 2008 for services to leisure destinations in Africa, the Indian Ocean and the Caribbean.
In 2007, Air Italy created Euro Mediterranean Airlines, a subsidiary based in Egypt, which initially operated a single Boeing 757-200, which was later replaced by a Boeing 737-800. Also in the same year, Air Italy Polska was set up as a second subsidiary, based in Poland. In September 2009, Euro Mediterranean Airlines was planned to be rebranded as Air Italy Egypt, but by the end of the year it had vanished due to financial difficulties.

    Italian description below:

    Airbus A350-900 cutaway view

The A350-900 is the first model scheduled to enter service (EIS) in 2013 and seats 314 passengers in a 3-class cabin 9-abreast layout. It has a standard design range target of 15,000 km (8,100 nmi). Airbus says that the A350-900 will have a decrease of 16% MWE per seat, a 30% decrease in block fuel per seat and 25% better cash operating cost against the Boeing 777-200ER. The -900R and -900F variants also have been proposed but not yet launched. These are to feature the higher engine thrust, strengthened structure and landing gear of the -1000. Range of the "standard" A350-900R was estimated to 17,600 km (9,500 nmi), which would be boosted to about 19,100 km (10,315 nmi) by these design improvements to compete with the Boeing 777-200LR and be capable of Non-stop flight from London-Heathrow to Auckland. The -900 is designed to compete with the Boeing 777-200ER and replace the Airbus A340-300.
